African Development Bank Internship Program 2027, Session 1

African Development Bank

The African Development Bank Internship Program gives students and recent graduates professional and practical experience within the Bank. Session 1 begins in January 2027 and lasts between three and six months. Selection is competitive and depends on the Bank's business needs. Internships may be remote or on-site. The assigned hiring unit determines the arrangement. Remote interns must provide their own computer, reliable internet connection and a suitable working environment. On-site interns are responsible for their travel to and from the Bank's location and for their upkeep. The Bank says it will make reasonable efforts to assist with entry and residence visas. Eligible interns receive a monthly stipend and medical insurance during the internship. The programme does not guarantee immediate employment with the Bank, and each person may complete the internship only once. Overview The Airtel Africa Foundation Tech Scholarship is a five-year, fully funded programme for academically strong Zambian students from vulnerable or low-income backgrounds who are entering technology-related undergraduate programmes at the University of Zambia or Copperbelt University for the 2026/2027 academic year. What scholars receive The programme offers 50 scholarships, with 25 places at each participating university. Airtel Zambia's official announcement states that each selected student will receive full tuition for five years, accommodation for the full programme, a new laptop, monthly data connectivity, a monthly allowance and internship placements intended to strengthen workplace readiness. Who the scholarship is for Applicants must be Zambian students who completed Grade 12 in 2022 or later, achieved between 5 and 7 points at their first sitting, can demonstrate financial need, are not receiving another scholarship or fellowship, and have been admitted for the 2026/2027 academic year as a new entrant or first-year student in an eligible technology programme at one of the two participating universities. GFF x CIVIC VOICES Call for Proposals 2026

PATH / GFF x CIVIC / VOICES Consortium

Overview The GFF x CIVIC VOICES Call for Proposals supports local civil society and youth-led partnerships working to improve civic participation, health-financing advocacy and accountability for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and nutrition in Africa. The initiative is led by PATH with the African Institute for Development Policy and the Organisation of African Youth under the VOICES consortium. Funding and programme support Up to USD 3.35 million will be awarded across as many as 22 African countries. Selected partnerships will receive grants lasting up to 18 months, alongside advocacy training, technical assistance in budget analysis and mentorship. The programme aims to strengthen coalition-building, youth leadership and sustained engagement in national health-planning, budgeting and accountability processes. Who the call is for Applicants must be local civil society organisations, youth-led organisations and/or community-based organisations in an eligible African country. Applications must come from a partnership of two or three organisations, and at least one member must be youth-led. A single organisation applying alone does not meet the required partnership structure. Applications are open for Cohort 4.0 of the Precision Agriculture Incubation Program (PAIP), a six-week, hands-on programme from Precision Field Academy. PAIP is designed for young people who want practical skills for careers and ventures at the intersection of agriculture and technology. The programme covers drone technology, geographic information systems, smart agriculture tools, research, enterprise development, data-driven solutions and practical sessions. Precision Field Academy states that the programme is backed by a globally accredited certification. The call is open to young professionals aged 16 to 35, both within and outside Africa. Agriculture students and young professionals seeking careers in agricultural technology are encouraged to apply, and women are particularly encouraged. Entrepreneurs for Resilience 2027

About the programme The Swiss Re Foundation's tenth Entrepreneurs for Resilience programme will support healthcare social enterprises that are expanding access to affordable, quality primary healthcare for underserved communities in low- and middle-income countries. The programme is looking for proven brick-and-click models that combine physical points of care with a digital enabling layer. Relevant approaches may include clinics, community health services, pharmacies, diagnostics or health workers supported by telemedicine, digital patient systems, remote diagnostics, e-pharmacy, data tools or other digital services. The organisers are particularly interested in models that improve affordability and integrate with public health systems. Funding and support Six to eight shortlisted enterprises may receive up to US$45,000 in pilot funding during due diligence, alongside three days of tailored technical assistance in impact measurement and management. Three to four finalists will share up to US$1 million in blended funding over a two-year implementation period. This comprises up to US$600,000 in unconditional funding allocated after due diligence and final presentations, followed by up to US$400,000 in conditional funding linked to agreed milestones. Finalists may receive up to 20 days of tailored technical assistance over two years, covering impact measurement, financial management and fundraising, scaling, last-mile marketing and sales, and gender inclusion. Participants also gain access to corporate expertise, healthcare and impact-investment networks, peer learning and greater visibility. A programme gathering is planned for Zurich in November 2027, subject to confirmation. Eligibility Applicants must be formally registered for-profit enterprises or operate through a formally established hybrid structure. They must have been established by December 2023, earn at least 50% of their income through revenue, already serve at least 50,000 people and demonstrate a market-based path to scale. At least 30% of the customer base must consist of low-income or underserved people. Applicants must operate in countries classified by the World Bank as low- and middle-income, combine physical and digital healthcare delivery, demonstrate measurable social impact and comply with the laws of the countries where they operate. They must also be legally able to receive funding from a Swiss non-governmental organisation. The programme prefers gender-inclusive enterprises, including those with at least one female founder or at least 30% women in the management team. Selection process Applications are screened for eligibility, impact, traction and strategic fit. Up to 25 enterprises will be invited to submit a more detailed second-round application by 8 November 2026. Six to eight will then enter due diligence between November 2026 and March 2027, including an on-site visit of up to four days. Shortlisted teams will prepare for virtual jury presentations in May 2027, after which three to four finalists will be selected. Funding is governed by separate agreements. Pilot recipients enter a one-year agreement covering objectives and reporting. Finalists enter a two-year agreement with milestones, deliverables and impact-measurement requirements. The United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UN-ODET) is inviting experts to join its Working Group on Open Compute for Research, Education and Innovation. The group will develop a voluntary governance framework for shared computing infrastructure used in research, education and innovation, with particular relevance to researchers and educators in developing countries that have limited access to advanced computing capacity. The working group will have at least 30 members serving in their personal capacity. Members will be assigned to one of five task forces covering data immunity and control; access, allocation and continuity; safety and harmful-use prevention; sustainability, standards and enablement; or technical interoperability. Its final package, including a data immunity protocol and an interoperability and portability profile, is due to be presented at UN Open Source Week in May 2027. This is a remote expert working role. The plenary will meet virtually for 90 minutes each month. Task forces will normally meet virtually for at least one hour every fortnight, increasing to weekly meetings during drafting periods.
